Le Mont St Michel

For sight seeing in this beautiful area you are spoilt for choice with le Mont St Michel just 30 minutes away, St Malo and Dinan an hour, slightly further a field you will find Bayeux with its famous tapestry and cathedral and museums to name but a few.

A visit to Fougeres is a must and its just 20 minutes drive away, here you can walk the old streets taking in the castle, the church of St Sulpice, the Saturday morning market and shops.

Another town worth a visit is Dol de Bretagne with its historic cathedral, and on the way you can buy garlic and shallots from the growers that line the roadside, then lunching on oysters or mussels while looking across the bay at le Mont St Michel.

On either side of the stunning Rance Barrage you will find St Malo and Dinard, both places worthy of your time, the walled town of St Malo with its shops and restaurants and Dinard with its lovely beaches and Breton atmosphere.

France is famous for its markets and Wednesday morning is market time at St Hilaire du Harcouet just 20 minutes away and this market is worth a visit for its fresh local produce and many other goodies on offer. Thursday morning is market time at Dinan, a truly enormous market, when you have finished taking in all it has to offer, the rest of the day walking the ancient cobbled streets of Dinan or even a ride along the river will be a day well spent.

The beaches along the Normandy coast towards Granville are lovely unspoilt beaches with miles of sand, perfect for children to enjoy.
